Are you tired of rising up the corporate ladder?   Do you often think of how your life could be if you have your own business?   Are you sure you have what it takes to be your own boss?  If you are an employee who wants to explore business opportunities outside of your work, but can’t decide if it’s the right choice, then read on!

Here are  6 helpful tips to know whether it’s time to jump into the bandwagon of entrepreneurship or stay in the corporate world:

Tip 1:

The world of work, whether you are a professional in the corporate world or an entrepreneur running a small-scale business, is survival of the fittest.  Visualize where you can work better and happier.   One way to help you decide is to create a worksheet and then list the advantages and disadvantages of working in a company or going into entrepreneurship.   Make sure that your analysis comes from your heart so that you can make a sound decision.

Tip 2:

Understanding the culture of the company is one of the keys to becoming successful in the workplace because it guides how you as an employee can act at work.   Reflect if the culture in your work setting suits you or not, as this is a major factor in deciding whether to venture into other opportunities outside of your employment.

Tip 3:

Check if you are satisfied and happy with the compensation and benefits of your company.   If you are not and you cannot wait long enough to get a satisfying raise, then the best option is to discover alternative work, otherwise you may harbor resentments and frustrations.   It is better to work where you can really pursue your passion and be happy.   So discover your passions and plan on making them a reality.   Do it while you’re currently employed.   Then quit when you think that your passion is already a stable source of income and it can cover living expenses without the regular income from your day job.

Tip 4:

Money is an important factor should you decide to start your own business.   Ensure that your cash on hand will be sufficient up to the time when you can generate a stable, regular income from your business profit.   It is also better to avoid loans in starting your business as paying off loans can be mentally taxing and stressful.

Tip 5:

Remain positive at all times.  Positive thoughts attract good luck and success.

Tip 6:

Ensure that there are people who support your vision and ideas.  Find a support system to serve as your back-up when you feel low.  They can be members of your inner circle such as your family and close friends.

That’s it!  Hope this helps you in your journey to succeed professionally and reach your dreams!
